How to get there: By car: Lies between Melrose and Galashiels. On the B6360 which leaves the A6091, Melrose to Galashiels road some 2 miles from Melrose. Signposted. By public transport: Regular bus services, Melrose to Galashiels, pass the road end. Short walk to the house.
Seasonal opening details (2011):
Abbotsford has now closed for the 2011 visitor season. The house will remain closed until 2013 to allow for an extensive programme of much-needed repair and refurbishment. We are currently building a new Visitor Centre, including café and shop, which will open in Spring 2012. While the main house will be closed until 2013, the visitor centre and Abbotsford’s beautiful garden and grounds will be open to visitors next year.
The Tearoom, Gift Shop, Gardens and Grounds will remain open on those days and can be accessed through the ticket office.
Facilities: Tearoom & Gift Shop – opening hours as for house. Picnic Area Disabled car parking via the private entrance 200 yards west of the main car park. Toilets (inc Disabled)
