Description: Research room with micro fiche and micro film records of census returns, births, marriages and deaths. Also information on local Borders families. Monumental Inscriptions series for graveyards in parts of Roxburghshire and Berwickshire, recording still being carried out. Also on-going projects on Poor Law and Police & Criminal records.

How to get there:
In Old Gala House
It is in Scott Crescent within the town.
By car: Scott Crescent is one of the main east – west routes to the south of the town centre. Car parking on site.
By public transport: A short walk from the town centre.

Opening Hours 2011
Old Gala House is open during the summer season. The archive and search room is open from Thursday 7th April until Friday 28th october 2011.
We will be open every Thursday from 10am till 3.45pm on an "all comer" basis and while it id not necessary to pre-book for a Thursday it is recommended as space is so limited.
Additionally, we will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays, by reservation in advance for sessions from 10am till 3.45pm. Please note that if there are no booked sessions for a particular Tuesday or Friday, the archive will not be opened.

All available research aides plus assistance.
