2011 Exhibitions:
Mon 4 April – Sun 15 May
Land, Sea and Colour | Helen Tyler, Mike Dixon & Sarah
Hargreaves

Showcasing three painters with different perspectives on the natural
world. Helen’s flowers are full of joy and colour; Mike’s landscapes
and seascapes hover between figuration and abstraction; Sarah
focuses on the seashore and patterns found in the natural landscape.

Sat 21 May – Sun 3 July
Reivers: Men of Steel | John Martin

Paintings inspired by the men who battled during the most turbulent
period of Borders history between 1300 and 1600. Known, as much
for their deceit and treachery as for their loyalty and courage, their
stories have long been recorded in legends, ballads and songs.

Sat 9 July – Sun 14 August
Oor Rob | Robert Webster 1927 – 2010

A retrospective of one of Selkirk’s well known local characters to
mark his recent death. Acclaimed for his Burns recitals, Rob was
also a talented artist. A former Head of Art at Selkirk High School, his
paintings range from the rugged beauty of the Highlands and Islands
to the soft rolling hills of the Lothians and Borders.

Sat 20 August – Sun 25 September
Inner Landscapes | Mary Morrison & Rachel O’Dell

A joint show by a painter and glassmaker, who in their respective
disciplines, employ a sensitive use of materials and surface which
echo the natural world and the elements. Both artists record through
colour and gesture the impression that the experience of a particular
landscape can create.

Sat 1 October – Sun 30 October
Made in Selkirk

Selkirk boasts a rich manufacturing heritage and has been
associated with a range of industries from shoemaking and weaving
to electronics. The town is also famed, of course, as the home of
The Selkirk Bannock but did you know about the stage sets and the
drinking horns, not to mention the world famous musicians?
